What we collect
- Your order. Name, email address, what you bought, and the total. For collection orders, the festival and pick-up point. For delivery orders, the postal address you give us.
- Your account, if you create one - email address and a password we store only as a one-way hash, never in a form we can read.
- Payment confirmation. A reference to the payment and whether it succeeded. We never receive or store your card number.
- Your email preferences, only if you tick the box at checkout - your email address and first name, which festival you ordered for, and a record of when you agreed or unsubscribed and the exact wording you saw.
- How the site is used, only if you accept analytics cookies - the pages you visit, roughly where you are and what device you use, and whether you placed an order and its value. Google Analytics collects this; we see it in totals, not as a record of you.
- Nothing else. We run no advertising pixels and no tracking of you across other sites.
Why, and on what basis
- To fulfil your order — taking payment, getting it to you or to the stand, and sending your confirmation. We need this to perform our contract with you.
- To run your account and let you see past orders, where you asked for one.
- To prevent fraud and keep the site up, which is our legitimate interest in not being defrauded.
- To keep tax records, which we are required by law to do.
- To see how the site is used and improve it, only if you accept analytics cookies, which is your consent. Saying no changes nothing else about the site.
- To send you news and offers, only if you ticked the box at checkout, which is your consent. Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and saying no never affects your order.
Who else sees it
Only the suppliers we need to run the shop, and only what they need:
- Stripe processes payments. Your card details go to Stripe directly and never reach us.
- Our email providers send your order confirmation, run our mailbox and, if you opted in, send our news and offers, so they handle your email address.
- Google runs Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies. Google may process this data outside the UK, under its own safeguards for doing so.
- Our hosting provider runs the server the site and database sit on.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for six years, which is how long HMRC requires us to hold records of a sale. Account details are kept until you ask us to close the account. If you opted in to news and offers, we keep your email address for that until you unsubscribe; after that we keep only the record that you did, so we never email you again by mistake.
Cookies and storage
Everything below works without asking, because the site needs it to work - except Google Analytics, which is off until you press Accept on the cookie banner. There is no advertising and no profiling.
- Your basket is stored in your own browser so it survives a refresh. It never reaches us until you order.
- A sign-in token, set only if you have an account and only while you are signed in.
- Your first name and email, held in the browser tab for a moment after you place an order, so the confirmation page can greet you. They go when you close the tab.
- Stripe’s fraud checks, set when you reach the checkout page — not while you browse.
- Your cookie choice (
ff_analytics), so we do not ask again on every page or festival site. It lasts a year. - Google Analytics (
_gaand_ga_…), only if you accept. They tell Google’s counts that two visits came from the same browser, and last up to two years.
You can change your analytics choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Rejecting after accepting turns Google Analytics off and deletes its cookies.
You can also clear or block any of these in your browser, though blocking the ones the site needs will stop the basket and the checkout working.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we are not legally required to keep it, or object to how we are using it. Email sales@fatfrankscampingshop.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Where we link out — to a festival’s own site, or to our social accounts — their privacy practices are their own. Our terms say more about that.
